Hi everyone!
I'm kinda lost and I was really hoping I could get some free help.![[Image: wink.png]]()
About 6 months ago I cut the cord and I have been using an old MacBook running EyeTV along with an HDHomerun that my ex bf setup so I still had a DVR. Plus I have an Amazon Fire stick to watch streaming content. It works for what I need, but the fan on the MacBook is loud AF so I want to upgrade.
I don't have tons of spare cash sitting around to build some of the HTPC's that I see online (I am about to break ground on my OWN home!!!, so I gotta watch the budget). Anyway, I have been reading all over the place and I think I want to use a Raspberry Pi 2 along with my HDHomerun- kind of like this description:

My problem with that is I can't use it as a DVR.
I started looking around and I think I would be well served to build a server (haha). I could put all of my pics and rip all of my DVDs and BluRays on there. From what I have read, a Banana Pi Pro 2 is waaaaaay better for this since it has a SATA connection and faster ethernet speeds. Since they haven't started building my house yet, I was thinking I could run some cable from a central location to all of the TVs. I would probably have two or three TV's, plus my laptop, iPad, and phone connected to the network, either wired or wireless.
Here is what I am thinking, but I have no clue if it will work- a Banana Pi Pro 2 connected to my HDHomerun and 2x1TB hard drives to work as the server. Then I will have a Raspberry Pi 2 running Plex or Kodi (not really sure what the difference is) at each of the TV's to control what I am actually streaming to that location. From what I have read, I think I will have to get a gigabit router to connect everything together.
Is this possible? Does anyone have any tips or advice?
Thanks,
SherryBerries91
