SickRage down after push update

I'll preface this post with stating that I am a novice when it comes to Linux, I know enough to follow the bouncing ball but that's about it.

I installed SickRage via AtoMiC some time ago and was working until last night when I noticed it was down.

I ran updates on my Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS Server, rebooted and it started to hang on boot.

I worked through a couple of unrelated issues then noticed it was hanging trying to update pip for SickRage.

I tried to start it manually and received several references to "Detected a distutils installed project" is fatal in pip 8.

There was a work around for pip in this article: https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/3384, I think its called pinning, but even after getting past the pip issue I continued to get the  "Detected a distutils installed project" error on every update that followed.

I let it set overnight and now when manually starting it most of the errors are gone except the following when it tries to install the "cryptography package":

Quote:Command "/usr/bin/python2 -c "import setuptools, tokenize;__file__='/tmp/pip-build-ww_tvi/cffi/setup.py';exec(compile(getattr(tokenize, 'open', open)(__file__).read().replace('\r\n', '\n'), __file__, 'exec'))" install --record /tmp/pip-hCYNTa-record/install-record.txt --single-version-externally-managed --compile" failed with error code 1 in /tmp/pip-build-ww_tvi/cffi

I also discovered that SickRage is now binding to my VPN IP vs. the localhost IP. I turned turned the VPN off and manually started SickRage and could access the interface but that's not going to fly since I need the VPN running at all times. I also noticed with the VPN off and trying to test it's connection to Deluge I get a list of my shows returned to the screen vs. a successful test. It's as if it displays the shows menu vs. executing the test!?

I'm only guessing here but it appears SickRage tried to do an update directly and hosed my install which was installed by AtoMic. HELP!!!

Where do I go from where? I'd rather not lose my database if possible.

I'd be open to removing the SickRage install that AtoMic did and do a straight install IF there's a way to save my database, IF it will eliminate this issue in the future.

Thanks,

Daveinfla
